Alleviate poverty in
the isolated, chronically-
poor Khmer villages
“You cannot tell a hungry child today that you gave her food yesterday.”
Health: Pathway from Poverty© is an evidence-based, people-centered, culturally-appropriate strategy for breaking ties binding Khmer to chronic poverty. Designed as a transferable model, its core belief is "health in the following indicators must exist for poverty’s grip to be loosened: physical wellness, spiritual health, social connectedness, healthcare access, financial security, environmental safety and emotional stability." All too often, a piecemeal approach inevitably fails as sustainability of health is such a complex issue, as well as the inter-generational bonds of poverty. The vehicle for sustainability is the Health Literacy linking each component of the model within villages and groups of villages – a certification which is being developed by The Community through international partners in the fields of health and education.
